Flow Start ("the app", "we", "our") is developed by Hugh Fagan. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.

1. Data you create in the app

Your tasks, categories, schedules, timer sessions, and completion history are stored on your device. If you subscribe to Flow Start Pro, this data also syncs via Apple's CloudKit to your own private iCloud account, so it's available across your devices. We do not have access to this data — it lives in your iCloud account under Apple's standard iCloud privacy terms, not on any server we operate.

If you sign in with Apple to enable iCloud sync, we store only the opaque identifier Apple provides in your device's Keychain, to recognize your sign-in state. We do not request or store your name or email address.

2. AI task processing

When you enter a task, the app breaks it into steps and assigns a category using AI. By default, this happens via Google's Gemini API: the text of the task you typed (and, for weekly summaries, the titles, categories, and completion times of your finished tasks) is sent to Google's servers for processing. Google's handling of this data is governed by their own privacy policy.

You can switch to on-device processing at any time in Settings. In this mode, task text is processed entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence and is never sent anywhere. You're asked to choose during onboarding, and can change your choice later.

3. Reminders export

If you choose to export a task to Apple Reminders, the app requests permission to access Reminders and writes the task's title and due date to a dedicated "Flow Start" list on your device via Apple's EventKit framework. This happens entirely on-device — nothing is sent over the network for this feature.

4. Subscriptions

Flow Start Pro subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see or store your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs payment data. Subscription terms are governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement.

5. Analytics and attribution

We use Singular, a third-party attribution SDK, to understand which marketing channels lead to app installs and to measure app usage for analytics and advertising purposes. Singular collects a device identifier linked to your device for these purposes. The first time you open the app, you'll be asked to allow or deny tracking via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you deny, Singular does not collect your device's advertising identifier.

6. Data retention and deletion

Your task data stays on your device (and in your private iCloud account, if syncing is enabled) until you delete it or delete the app. Deleting the app removes local data; iCloud-synced data can be removed from your iCloud account settings. There is no developer-run account or database to request deletion from.

7. Children's privacy

Flow Start is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
